There are many people that either don't understand Meta Tags or that place *way* too much emphasis on the use of them. In this section we're going to explain Meta Tags and we're going to use examples to illustrate our point. Anyway, onto the explanation. Meta Tags...Meta Tags, they seem like a good way to get into seach engines right? And people are so convincing that Meta Tags are 'the way' to get into search engines, correct? But this is really NOT the case. Meta Tags USED to be the 'secret' to getting ranked high in the search engines (a LONG, long time ago), but the search engines got smarter. They caught onto the plot and now some search engines will penalize sites with Meta Tags. It's still good to have a couple of Meta Tags such as the Meta Description and the Meta Keywords in order to make your site 'search engine friendly' (only for search engines that use spiders to index pages.) OK, here is an example of Meta Tags found at a site that creates Meta Tags for you: |

Three words for you about these Meta Tags, WASTE OF TIME!! About the only thing this would do is give you cramps in your hands from typing a bunch of jargon! Let's say, for example, you have written the 'perfect' Meta Tags (and I use those terms loosely), but you don't have very much information or content on your site and another site has absolutely no Meta Tags, but their site is very informative and has rich content, which site do you think would get higher rankings in the search engines, that have actual people indexing web sites, or that would fit the needs of it's visitors better? The site with no Meta Tags would definitely be prone to higher ranking and visitor attraction because it is a useful site. Bottom line don't waste your time trying the write the 'perfect' Meta Tags when you could be spending that time building a site that will be informative and appealing to it's visitors. All you really need is the description and the keyword Meta Tags, so that your site is 'search engine friendly'. Need to know more about Meta Tags?
